Introduction to Writing Campus

Filed under: All, Writers Campus — Aiden @ 10:53 am

Writing Campus is a place where you can post any writing that you want. They have a wide range of things and it is an interesting site. While not as well organized as some and not as large as others, it seems to have a nice amount of traffic. Each of your articles or blog entries are labeled “blogs”, but you can write about anything. The more you write the more points you get and the more money you can make. I haven’t done much here, but will be in the coming days and have made some money on the one article that I wrote. Items are published immediately so you don’t have to wait for an editor or any of that stuff.

You make money with 50% of your Google Adsense. The sad thing about this site is that they make money with 50% Google Adsense and all of Kontera in text ads. This is sad because most people report some Google Adsense earnings decreases with Kontera ads. This means that no matter what, the site is making more money then you are.

On the other hand, if you are just looking for places to write this one seems to be easy, as well as a decent earner. I will be working here more in the coming days and finding out more.

Introduction to CREAMaid

Filed under: All, CREAMaid — Aiden @ 8:54 am

CREAMaid is a sponsored post site that does things a lot differently. Here you will go and check to see if there is a job opportunity. Rather then creating an account and hoping that your blog will be accepted you can take the job. Write it on any blog and if it is accepted you are e-mailed a notice that includes a link to request payment. You then get paid within 24 hours.

Pros-

  • You can write your entry on any blog as long as you follow the directions that are given for the job.
  • Some are worth a nice sum of money and I have made as much as $20.
  • You get a referral fee if someone follows the post from your site and writes one of their own that gets accepted.
  • Payment is fast.

Cons-

  • It can take a long time to be accepted and you don’t ever know if you aren’t accepted. Months later you could get paid for something you had forgotten that you wrote.
  • There really aren’t very many jobs here. One or two a month and sometimes not even that.
  • There aren’t a wide range of jobs. It isn’t surprising considering the number of jobs there are, but it is often sad.

All in all, CREAMaid can make you a little money, but not much. It is nice getting paid so quickly after being accepted, but you just don’t know if you are accepted and that can be frustrating.

Seafood Cook Off

Filed under: Uncategorized — Aiden @ 9:53 pm

Once a year, chefs from all over the United States gather in Louisiana for the Great American Seafood Cook Off. Americans from all over can go to www.greatamericanseafoodcookoff.com and gather fantastic seafood recipes and even vote for their favorites. After carefully reviewing the top five recipes I think that Chef Mark Holly certainly has something worth talking about. This Texas chef has presented a shrimp dish using Texas Gulf Shrimp that top hominy cakes with tomato relish and prickly pear gastrique. This makes for a unique combination and also gives seafood lovers a chance to try something new with prickly pear cactus which has a lot to offer, but isn’t that common.

Of course the site is full of fantastic seafood recipes from several states. Each of these recipes can add life and ideas to your own kitchens. There are many benefits to using domestic and local seafood including the fact that it is fresher, local, and has a great taste. To top it all off, seafood is healthier then many other food options and can be tasty in a wide variety of ways.

You can check out the site, discover new recipes, add your vote, and keep up on the news of the Great American Seafood cook off. Plus adding your vote will give you the chance to win a trip to New Orleans! Which is the perfect reason to head over there now and add your vote! With a wide range of recipes and a whole lot of options using fish, shrimp, and other seafoods there is something that is sure to meet your fancy! You can even find options that include several types of seafoods all in one plate and tastes from Alaska to Texas and in between. After all, there is even a recipe from Kentucky that will meet your bluegrass needs!

eHow Earnings

Filed under: All, eHow — Aiden @ 8:15 pm

eHow is a site that is designed to have a wide range of how to articles posted. Here you can write anything and it isn’t edited. You simply go through the process and publish your work how you want it. Your article is received better if it contains pictures or video and the step by step method often works very well with pictures. The articles then make an unknown amount of money according to the articles earnings.

It should be noted that this site is fairly easy to write for an any thing you know how to do can be turned into a how to article. In addition to that the more articles you write the better off your monthly earnings will be.

  • Sadly eHow only pays Americans with a PayPal account.
  • Payout is at $10 and then paid the following month.
  • Writing a number of articles can earn you a great amount of money. Rumor has it that some are earning as much as $300 a month. I am up to $10 a month and don’t know how high that I can go. (But will be sure to let you know as I get there).
  • Any thing that you know can be turned into an article!

Earning from eHow is easy to do and can be done as you build up a library of articles on this site. It should also be noted that pictures can be added later as can other editing options.

Big Fat 0’s

Filed under: Uncategorized — Aiden @ 4:28 pm

Sponsored posts work best with page ranks. In fact, over time I have seen a drop in the number of posts that a low ranking blog can get on PayPerPost, but the truth of the matter is that the higher you rank the better. This blog as well as two others now have a PR of 0 which will make earning from sponsored posts a lot harder. This month I have worked hard on blogging because we needed the money and I was wanting to see how much I can make. However, with a lower page rank that certainly won’t help. I have slacked off on article writing and will have to get back to working hard at that since that will bring in the passive income as well.

I am going to try to find the balance in it all. This is one of the hardest parts of working online and trying to find the perfect balance that lets you make money and grow your business.

Anyway…good luck for now. I am not sure how much I will be posting in the next couple of days. I will be leaving for vacation on Saturday morning so this could be a last post till we get back September 8th, 2008.

PayU2Blog

It is easy for any reader of my blogs to quickly see that I have been doing more sponsored posts this month. In fact, this has earned me nearly three hundred dollars and by the end of the month I expect that it will pass that. On August 12, 2008 I had my first blog accepted by PayU2Blog. I had heard good things in the past and tried to get a blog accepted before only to have it turned down. Now I have been working with them for a couple of weeks and have a lot to say!

PayU2Blog does their program a little differently. You have to wait for your blog to be approved (which is fairly common) and then you have to submit your information by e-mail. Once that is done your account is set up on their site and you can log in.

They assign jobs to you. Most jobs are worth five dollars with that being the least amount that you will get. Each post needs to be sixty words or more with one link to the page provided.

Pros

  • You are assigned tasks. Most of the better money makers for sponsored posts require that you log into their site and search for opportunities in some way. This can be time consuming and frustrating. Nothing worse then coming across a perfect opp worth a lot of money only to have your computer take forever and then you get the message “All opportunities have been reserved”. When assigned the task it is a lot easier to handle.
  • There are lots of them. In two weeks that I have been working with PayU2Blog I have gotten nine opportunities. I may have gotten more had I moved through them faster, but they seem to come often, regularly, and with ease.
  • Simple requirements. Sometimes you find yourself trying to write 300 words about a boring site with little left to say and it becomes a challenge to make the word count for your five dollars. With this site you have to write sixty words and no matter what that is rather easy!
  • Plenty of time. When you claim an opportunity for PayPerPost you have to write that post within six hours or loose it. With Social Spark you are looking at a whopping 12 hours. Smorty 24 hours. Blogitive gives you 48 hours. PayU2Blog is one of the few that gives you a week. This lets you look at the opportunities you have available and place them where you want them and it gives you plenty of time to write lots of posts for in between your jobs.

Cons-

  • You have to take the jobs. You agree, when you join, that you will take every job assigned to you. They agree that they won’t give you porn and other adult rated materials. But even if you are against a post you have no choice but to write it.
  • The post instructions are lacking. The assignment gives you the link and the text to link it too. However, it doesn’t tell you anything else. You go to the website and usually you can find stuff to write about, but occasionally you can feel a little left in the dark.

This site is quickly becoming my favorite and working its way into a huge money maker for me. I am thinking that in the coming months I will enjoy working with them more then the other sponsored post sites I work with.

Additional features-You can set vacation days so as not to get in trouble for missing jobs. Plus you can set a maximum number of jobs at one time, a minimum for the month, and a maximum for the month helping you to control the work that you get. This can make it easier to get all that you want. I don’t know how well these features work and will test them in the coming months and let people know how well they are working out.

PayU2Blog is definitely a site worth working for and with!

Weight Loss Drugs Review

Filed under: Product and Site Reviews — Aiden @ 9:37 am

There are tons of different weight loss drugs out there and getting an unbiased review of them isn’t always easy. Some weight loss drugs are dangerous and addictive. You could find yourself sick or in trouble with weight loss drugs. Other side effects are also common with many of them. However, there is a place to get good reviews that cover a wide range of information and are unbiased and honest.

This site has a phentermine diet pill review as well.  Phentermine has been around since the fifties and in that time it is still approved by the FDA. However, the best option of all is to know what to expect as well as a wide range of information about the medication before jumping on the boat and giving it a try. This site will walk you through the history, how the medicine works, the effectiveness, the safety concerns and issues, as well as the side effects. All in all, it is a very helpful page.

Helium Reward-athons

Filed under: All, Helium — Aiden @ 9:32 am

The new year brought a lot of changes in a lot of different locations. One of those was Helium. For those that don’t know, Helium is a site, like many that allows authors to publish articles on their site and make money based on article performance. The earnings there aren’t a ton, however January brought about the Helium Reward-athon.

January-April Reward-athon. For this reward-athon authors could write articles in almost any topic and make a set fee doing it. Authors earned money according to their writing stars. Writing stars are awarded for writers that have a certain number of articles with an average in the top 25%. If you got one writing star then you were given $1 for each article. Two writing stars was worth $1.50 for each article, three stars was worth $2, four was worth $2.50, and five was worth $3.

In addition to the fact that you writing stars could be used for these bonuses, you could increase the number of stars you had and get more per article. Where you stood on the last day of the reward-athon was how much money you made for each article within the time period.

The only catch was that you had to do enough rating to get three rating stars. For those that hated rating (I am definitely one of them), this was the hardest part of the reward-athon. However, once you had gotten to the point where you had rated hundreds of articles then it was fairly easy to keep that up.

All in all, I ended up with five writing stars at the end of it and was awarded $3 for each article. I wrote 480 articles and was paid $1440. Plus all of those articles that I had written in turn continue to make money with the performance based money that Helium normally makes.

Economic Stimulus. April passed with a lot of people happy. However, earnings seemed to go down after the reward-athon and then people were unhappy. The economic stimulas package was given out to Americans. It was then that Helium announced their economic stimulas package which would give you a bonus each month (based on your writing stars). This boosted earnings, especially for five star writers who were getting an additional 150% of their pathetic earnings. This is to continue until November.

Summer Reward-athon. This summer another reward-athon was announced. This one was a little different, but could make you as much as $3 an article (according to your writing stars). You have to have three rating stars and you can only write to the summer reward-athon’s titles (there are 1000 released each week) limiting how easy it is to make the money. However, you can still make some money. The summer reward-athon is running till September 22, 2008.

With a second reward-athon running this year it looks like these will be here more often then at first imagined. It lets you increase your earnings in a wonderful manner. You can write and make a sum upfront, as well as the passive earnings.

Writing a lot for the Helium reward-athons can be a lot of work. This summer reward-athon hasn’t been working with me all that well and so far I have made $24 toward the check in September. I hope to make it a little bigger before that time comes, but I am not working much there or working hard to make it happen.

Page Rank

Filed under: All, Page Rank — Aiden @ 9:11 am

Page rank is a magic number that is given to each website by Google. The first page rank option is N/A which means that the page hasn’t even registered with Google yet. After that you get a number from 0 to 10. This number has to do with traffic, links, and other information that Google bots get from your site. Google has also added a cut for those that do sponsored posts. While it is sad to watch your page rank go down, watching it go up is quite awesome.

Recently I had a couple of blogs go down (one was a PR1 and one was a PR2 and they are now both PR0). It makes you really sad since that magic number makes you feel really good about all the work that you have put into it.

Of course, other then hard work, good content, lots of links, and such you don’t have the power to turn Google in favor for your site. It is important not to get discouraged if you loose page rank because after all, it isn’t going to help you any. Instead, keep working hard and make a difference for your future.

Holiday Shopping

Filed under: Sponsored Posts — Aiden @ 11:56 pm

As much as we would like to ignore the fact that holiday shopping is just around the corner, it is indeed just around the corner. It seems that just yesterday, we were opening the gifts that were purchased last holiday season. Okay, so maybe not just yesterday. However, it hardly feels like we should be getting ready for the next holiday season.

Earning Without Working

Filed under: All — Aiden @ 11:46 pm

So many people desire to earn without work. It isn’t easy to do and the only simple way to earn without working is to take money that you made from working and invest it in a way that earns you money. This is attractive, but if you don’t have a lot of money to spare then it isn’t very helpful. On the other hand there is the option to continue making money on something you have already done. This is the true goal of an online writer.

I make money writing this blog. Some it comes from ad money, or will come from ad money, but if I stop updating the blog then it will dwindle out of money making potential. This can mean that it has a very short term life when it comes to earning without me working.

On the other hand, most of my article sites pay me by my articles performance each month. This means that as long as the site is up and running, I have the potential to make money from the work that I have already accomplished. Most of the sites require that I remain “active”. Each site defines active slightly different, but all in all it is 90-180 days. Writing one article every three months in order to continue to receive money from the work that I have already accomplished is well worth it.

In fact, it can be a huge sum of money depending on how much work you have already done and how well the sites pay. I haven’t gotten that far in life and have only figured it all out within the last several months.

However, while earning without working isn’t very likely (unless there is a scam or investment involved), earning on work already done is very possible.

Goals and Schedules

Filed under: All — Aiden @ 11:38 pm

Setting goals and making schedules are both important parts of making an online writing career work. They aren’t always easy to set and to maintain, but they are what will keep you motivated and on task.

Goals. Have goals for your online work is a must. Other wise you work a little here and a little there and all in all it is staggered. However, it isn’t always easy knowing how and when to set goals.

  • Don’t set dollar amount goals. it is okay to have a long term dollar amount in mind. I would like to work hard enough to make $4000 a month. However, using dollar amount goals can be very devastating when you don’t meet them. If you are planning on using them, shoot low so that you can feel good about making it over a certain mark. Aiming high on this one is often a source for disappointment and it can lead to discouragement.
  • Keep it attainable. We each have a certain amount of work that we can accomplish. A lot of factors go into that. Often my biggest challenge is getting work done while playing with a two year old. (The other day he was handing me the toy phone so I could talk and then asking for it back, over and over again while I was writing articles). Other challenges my be other members of your family, a job, and other commitments in your life. Whatever you have in your life, make sure that your online writing goals will be attainable and will be something that you can fit in with all the other parts of your life.
  • Write it down. Organization is a huge part of making all of this work, especially if you are working with a lot of other factors happening in your life at the same time. Make sure you write down your goals and keep track of everything that you do that is working toward those goals.

Here are a few examples of different goals. You will need to do what works best for you with the things going on in your life. The more you write the faster it will all grow, but you still need sleep, food, and to take care of your responsibilities.

  1. Working man or woman’s option. Say you put in forty hours a week and you don’t have a lot of time for writing, but it is part of your future or you dream. Aim for keeping a blog with three to five posts a week. Also aim for writing three to five articles on your favorite sites. If you pick out three sites and write one article a week for them, in a years time you will have fifty articles at each site. On the weeks you can write more, or you squeeze in more then you have increased your output that much more!
  2. Overloaded Option. For those that have really full plates, write either a blog three to five times a week or articles. You should aim for getting three to five pieces of information out there each week.
  3. Part timer. If you have a part time job, or are a stay at home mom who is good at squeezing in some work time as well then set larger goals. Keep a blog with three to five posts a week and aim for ten articles. Or keep more then one blog and aim for five articles.
  4. Remember to set goals that you can meet. No matter what your goals are, aim for something you can actually get done. Sure there will be a few times when you won’t be able to meet your goals. Sometimes cause you get sick, or you child does. Sometimes because outside commitments require more attention. Go with these and forget them. However, set goals you can usually meet and feel good about completing.

Goals will help to make it easier to stay focused and to give you a purpose when you sit down to write. They can also keep you motivated and feeling good about what you have gotten done.

Schedules-Scheduling your time is also important, but for most people it is a lot harder to do. Figuring out a schedule that works for you will take time, effort, and some trial and error. You will need to figure out when is the best time for you to write? How much time will you have to write? These questions are often hard to handle. Try to squeeze in time when you have a clear head and aren’t over tired. Try to make it time when you aren’t distracted and can give your work your full attention (I have a hard time doing this). Make sure you include other important aspects of life into your schedule and include lots of breaks. Believe it or not, but writing can leave you feeling mentally exhausted.

While there isn’t a perfect answer to your goal setting and schedule setting needs. It is important that you work to figure out what works best for you and how to make it work all together.
